Strawberry Negroni Recipe

  • Servings: 1

The negroni is a classic Italian cocktail often served as a welcome drink. This strawberry negroni is a twist on that classic which we were first introduced to by our friends at The Fulton in New York City. The Fulton infuses their gin with strawberries which you can do at home by simply adding hulled and chopping strawberries to a jar with gin and letting them infuse for a week or so. I made a shortcut version for this recipe by making strawberry juice which takes just a few hours to infuse rather than a whole week.

Pairs well with White Ragu with Pappardelle.

Ingredients

  • About 4 strawberries, hulled and chopped plus extra for garnish
  • 1 ½ ounces of gin
  • 1 ½ ounces of Campari
  • ¾ ounce of Red vermouth
  • A couple of dashes of orange bitters

Directions

Put the hulled and chopped strawberries into a heat proof container. Muddle to crush them and release their juices. Pour over about a cup of boiling water and steep for several hours. Strain when you are ready to use.

Add ice to a rocks glass. Pour the gin, Campari, red vermouth, orange bitters and 1 ounce of the strawberry water over the ice. Stir together to chill and garnish with a strawberry.
