Italian Seasonings?
Question: Whenever I dine at an Italian restaurant, for starters, we are brought a plate of a mixture of mainly dry herbs and seasonings over which EVOO is poured. This, we soak up with warm bread or rolls. Delish!
Any idea of what ingredients compose the herb and seasoning mixture? What's it called? I am open to your suggestions. What type bread (crusty?) do you think goes well with this stuff?
Answer: It is probably a combination of dried oregano and basil and maybe a little red pepper flakes. You can infuse olive oil with any number of seasonings to make yummy bread dips. Try minced garlic or fresh basil that has been shredded fine. Rosemary also makes a delicious infusion. Here's one you can order that we like
