Is it safe to put plastic place mats on the top rack of the dishwasher? Although I wash my everyday kitchen plastic place mats with dish detergent, I still feel they are not as sanitary as I would like them.

Hi Jessica - I periodically put my plastic place mats in the dishwasher - but no more than once or twice a week because they start to fall apart. If you are washing your place mats after each meal with really hot water and soap, you should be ok.
